Remember the Alamo

Do you think other states teach state history in schools, or are we the only state that devotes a year to Texas history? We had a nice time in San Antonio and stopped by the Alamo to pay our respects. We also had dinner with my friend Margaret (Theta big sis) and her husband Ryan.

On to other topics: Summer TV. Last week saw the season finale to most of my favorite shows. Tonight, I was pleasantly surprised to find that "Wipeout" is back on TV! So friggin' hilarious. Jon and Kate Plus 8 also had their season premiere Monday night. It made me so sad I couldn't sleep that night, mainly sad for the kids. I hope those 2 work their marriage out!

In my last post, when I said there's been nothing to squawk about, I lied because....

Jon and I are having a baby!! I'm about 11 weeks and baby Kleckley is due December 12. We are super excited to be parents to a human child, not just a dog child (no offense, Fergs). Even more fun, we find out in 7 weeks if we're having a boy or girl! It's been so hard to keep this quiet, but I wanted to wait until my Dr's appt this past week before I shared the good news.

No baby bump yet, just a small belly I'm blaming on junk food for now. I've actually lost 10+ pounds because I haven't had much of an appetite. The Dr said this should get better in the next few weeks and I know Jon is ready for me to start cooking again! I only have 1 ultrasound pic so far from 6 weeks that I'll post when I eventually scan it in.

We are headed off to San Antonio today to get away for the holiday weekend. Happy Memorial Day!!

Nothing much to squawk about lately, so instead I thought I'd go cheesy on my peeps with a post entitled "Reflections". We had relatives over this past weekend, and when my Aunt asked how long we've lived in our house, I realized it's already been 6 months!! Not only that, but Jon has been living in Houston for 8 months and I've been here for 7. Where has the time gone? I feel like it was yesterday that we watched the movers load our belongings in the snow. We are loving being back home, but a large part of us still misses the windy city. Some of the things, memories and people I miss....

*Sitting on my back porch and getting a cool breeze in May, April tulips, watching the snow fall, 4 seasons

*Cramming in the car for road trips to Michigan's Upper Peninsula, only to lay around Cindy's house to watch Lifetime and eat Emily bread

*Drunk baking in my kitchen...not sure if I ever got all the butter cream frosting off the cabinets

*Movie nights where I was not judged for wearing my PJ's with a house full of friends

*Kickboxing class at Sears. Don't know if I'll make it through another workout class without my buddy.

*Wednesday night dinner club, Ugly Christmas Sweater party, The Sword Swingers (Rockband Group)

*What koozie is more trashy: Kmart or Ford??

*Wrigley Field, Wrigleyville, Cubbies

*Watching Fergie play in the snow for the first time

*Portillo's, Giordano's, Randall's Pancake House, Lou Mitchell's

*Philly trip with everyone, complete with a mini van rental car whose name is not appropriate for this site

*Working at Sears. Yes, I admitted it.

*Taste of Chicago, Sweedish Days, Bark in the Park

*Goran "Serbia is not in the middle east" Radovanovic

*Sheila "One day will be buried in Nordstrom" Boysen-Rotelli

*Dan "How much did I drink in Mexico??" Anderson

*Dennis "Fabulous is my middle name", "Perpetual center of attention", "Shoe Queen" (so many to choose from) Razon

*Harrison "Did he really just say that?!?!" Retizos

*Cindy "Martha Stewart has nothing on me" Lewis

*Graham "I would have been on time, but..." Rotelli

*Melanie "Always ready to strike a pose" Retizos

*Lindsay "I'm ethnic" Janitens

*Stacie "Mrs. Triathlon" Jackson-McGarr

*Dave "I have more frequent flier miles than you" McGarr

*Jennifer and Justin "We love Sonic as much as you do" Mock

*Katie "pocket Asian" Brown

Sooo many fun memories...what did I miss???

Stock the Bar Party

As most of you know, one of my childhood best friends, Kelly Bekelja, is getting married July 18th and I'm the Maid of Honor! I am so excited for her and Rocco and can't wait for their big day. A few weekends ago, myself and 2 other bridesmaids hosted a Stock the Bar party for Kelly and Rocco at my house. So many things about weddings are stuffy, and we wanted a fun party where the boys were invited!
Bekelja girls, me, Smo and Jami before the party

Best friends since 3rd grade! Me, Kelly and Stephanie
Bekelja Family: Barb, Lindsay, Ken, Kelly and Becky
Rocco loves his pimp cup
Practicing for the big day. Let's just say this ended up with me having to mop the floor! haha
