I was sending a bunch of updated Madeline pics to family members, and I realized Madeline is wearing a giant hair bow in 99% of her pictures. Why, you may ask yourself, do I dress my child in these things? For one, I happen to think they are quite cute (in most cases). Also, SO many people think she's a boy! She's been called a boy while dressed in pink and while wearing polka dots. Maddie also has been doing this thing where she hangs onto her pacifier for dear life..as if we would remove that thing. We're not that stupid! (yet)Every Thursday, we've been attending a playgroup at Texas Women's Hospital with 25-30 other mommies and babies! This is Maddie with her friends Hunt and Bella.Maria babysat last week and she said this is the only way she could get Madeline to stop crying. The poor child fell asleep like this.My child is SO happy in the mornings. If she takes a nap, she wakes up super happy from that too. I love being greeted with this face when I get her out of the pack and play. (Yes, she is still sleeping in our room. I have no desire to go upstairs at 5 am to feed her when I can walk to the other side of our room). We had a fun weekend in Bryan where we attended the wedding of a family friend. Peter and Niki babysat Maddie for 4 1/2 hrs, the longest we've left her. They said she only cried for 10 minutes...seriously?? I was so proud of her for being a good baby! The wedding was beautiful and the wedding cake was 3 feet tall! Also, here's a shout out to my poor neglected dog child, Fergie. I think she has doggie depression. She waits all day until her little sister goes to bed so she can have her mommy and daddy to herself. Here she is cuddling with Jon while he "watches" ice dancing.
We had a pretty low key Valentine's Day. We cleaned the house, went for a walk, went to church and cooked. Ben also came over to do laundry at our house. Madeline got a princess book from her daddy and I got pretty flowers! Sunday night, we flipped between the Olympics and NBA All-Star Game (Maria was invited to cheer for it). After the previous photo session disaster, I was determined to get a good Valentine's Day picture of Madeline! This is the best we could do, but oh well...I guess we can't expect a perfect performance from a 2 month old. Special thanks to Granny G for the monogrammed outfit!
As Madeline gets older, we are enjoying her being more interactive, smiling and laughing. However, is it possible for a baby to get an attitude at 2 months old? Lately, she thinks naps are an option. She'll sleep for 20 or 30 min and talk to herself. When I go to her crib to put the pacifier back in her mouth, she'll smile as if to say, "Silly mommy, you think I'm going back to sleep! Sucka!" During her afternoon nap today, I decided to let her "whine it out" because I was not in the mood for a cranky child. I finally went to get her out of the crib, and found she had both legs in one pant leg. When I put her to sleep her legs were in the appropriate place...looks like I will not be winning "Parent of the Year"...oops.We also tried to take a cute Valentine's Day picture for her daddy, but she wasn't having it. That bottom lip gets me every time.
I DO have to brag on her though. She is such a trooper when I take her out and about, and usually sleeps the whole time. We are also trying to get her to spend more time on her tummy. The doctor says she should be doing this for 45 min a day, but right now she isn't tolerating more than 5 minutes at a time. She gets so excited when she pushes herself up though...it's SO funny. I realize her head looks ginormous in this pic but I thought it was cute. PS - Like the blanket? It has mini Fergies on it! She has 2 other outfits with mini-Fergies on it that don't fit her yet, but I guarantee there will be a photo shoot the day it fits.
Words cannot be found to describe our level of excitement over the Saints winning the Super Bowl. Tears were flowing at the Noto house! It was past Maddie's bedtime so she was already in her PJ's, but she was cheering with the rest of us!
After living in our house for over a year, I finally decided to clean out our office closet. The folder with our goals was hiding under plastic bins filled with old photo albums and home decor that still hasn't seen the light of day in our new residence. It was pretty entertaining going though all of our goals. ex: For the past four years, "buy Amanda a new car" has been on the list. I am still driving the car I got when I was 17, a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE my car (she even has a name - Consuela Jackson - long story), and not having car payments. It's just that every year we are convinced Counsuela Jackson is on her last leg. The funny part is I had more issues with it in the first 5 years than I've had the last 5 years. Considering she will turn 10 this year, "buy Amanda a new car" will be on our goals list yet again. Last weekend, we went to the Houston Auto Show to scope out the latest and greatest rides.
Madeline was very fond of the AcuraMDX...
I will NOT be getting a mini van...
Check out this Tundra. Talk about the ultimate tailgating party!
And because my kid is so friggin' cute....this pic was taken at Maria's 22nd birthday celebration a few weeks ago. Check out that shirt...It's a rabbit in a tutu holding a wand. I just LOVE having a baby girl! :) She was also wearing pink fuzzy "boots with the fur", which prompted lots of singing and dancing on our part.
