Strange Sense of Humor

Warning: this is kind of gross...

Last night after Maddie's bath, we noticed she had some major boogies up her nose. She usually HATES when we use saline solution and aspirator (what we call the boogie snatcher) to clear them out and will cry. Sad but very necessary. For whatever reason last night she thought it was the funniest thing she had ever seen and was laughing every time we stuck it up her nose, then would laugh harder when we squeezed the aspirator to get the gunk out. Seriously??? It was so funny and I have no idea why she got such a big kick out of it. Did I accidentally put something in her baby food? Nope, so it must be because....

We've had our first TOOTH sighting! That's right, a nice little white stump trying to poke through the gums. So far she's only been a little more fussy and not a nightmare, so we're hoping it stays this way.

New Tricks and 6 Month Pics

Madeline is growing up so fast. Her scooting has now turned into a half crawl, and she can instantly get to anything she wants on the floor. Today, she was entertained by the boppy (a pillow thing for those without a kiddo). She kept climbing back and forth over it. She's also learned to scale the walls of her play mat and will climb over the sides. Here's her most exciting new trick: Last night, she also climbed up the first stair in our house. She army crawled from the living room to the stairs, put both hands on the first step, got her feet and legs under her, and stood up. We were to in shock to take a picture, and she wouldn't do it a second time for the video camera. A few weekends ago she also had her first sleepover! My parents kept her while Jon and I went to Beaumont for a friends wedding. We were gone for less than 24 hours, but it felt much longer. She did great though, and slept all through the night (unless my parents were lying to me!). She loves her Poppy, GiGi and Aunties. We feel so lucky to live close to them, and it's fun to watch Madeline get excited when she sees them. No sleepover pics, so here's one of Jon and I at Josh and Angela's wedding. Today, we had Madeline's professional 6 month pictures taken. Lindsay of Rosie Toes Photography did an amazing job! She sent us a few for a sneak peek. They came out so cute and I can't wait to see them all!

Happy Father's Day

We had fun celebrating Jon's first Father's Day! We went to church Saturday night, so this morning we slept in and did yard work. Since Jon works in sales and his truck is basically his office, we gave him a gift certificate to get his truck detailed and a box to organize all of his paperwork. Part of the deal is that I'll be organizing everything (sad part: I'm excited about this). We also got him a customized card with Madeline's pictures, and a frame with her foot/hand prints. It also has a space for a picture, so we'll be printing this picture of daddy and daughter on their first Father's Day. A special thing about Madeline's outfit: The day we found out we were having a girl, he was in shock and totally freaked out that he was having a daughter since he grew up around all boys. We went to Old Navy so he could pick out an outfit for her, and this is what he chose! Notice how there's no pink...haha. He also wanted a burger, so we went to Red Robin for lunch so he could start training for some burger eating contest (more on this later....requires its own post). After that, we went over to my parents' house to swim. Aimee attempted to feed Madeline her lunch...
Maddie then decided she wanted to read/eat the paper with her daddy....
She also had fun playing in the pool....
A little too much fun...
Jon is such a great dad. Madeline's face lights up whenever she sees him or hears his voice. He's so interactive, hands on and loves to spend time with both our children (furry and human). We feel oh so very lucky to have him in our lives and enjoyed celebrating our favorite "new" daddy!

Peter and Niki's Wedding Day

Peter and Niki's wedding day was so much fun! The wedding wasn't until 7:30 pm, so we were able to relax and hang out. I loved that neither Peter or Niki seemed nervous at all. We took pictures outside at the hotel before the ceremony and it was HOT. I busted out my inner big sister/OCD personality to make sure they were well hydrated and powdered appropriately. Ha. Jon only had to tell me to chill out once. The ceremony was candlelit and the reception took place on the roof of the Reata restaurant in downtown Fort Worth. Madeline was SOOOO well behaved! She made only one squeak during the ceremony and fell right asleep at the reception. She was still sleeping in her carrier when Jon's parents brought her back to their room, and she slept in the carrier (dress and all) until 7 am! I was also proud of myself for keeping my crying to a minimum. The only time I teared up was when my mom and Peter were dancing at the reception. I took lots of fun video, but I need to get some more work done to this "ancient" (3 year old) laptop before I can upload everything. :(

What I do not have is pics of the awesome after party: Let's just say the hotel manager busted the party in my parents' suite and told us to move the party to the 2nd floor of the hotel...all 50 of us. And my 2:30 am bedtime was one of the early ones. And there might have been an extended family performance of a certian song from "The Sound of Music". And an impression by my Aunt Ronda of my mother in law being a baby hog. And a reinactment of Christmas morning when I was 8 years old and taught school with my teacher set from Santa. Oops. :) I'm sad that we don't have another family wedding on the books in the near future. There's always so much drama and stress that goes into the planning, but all of that seems to go out the window on the big day! Congrats to my little bro and new sis in law! Enjoy the pics...

Rehersal Dinner, Texas Style!

Friday night before the wedding, my parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at Billy Bob’s Texas (considered the largest "honky tonk” dance hall in the world). They did such a wonderful job of planning everything and it was the perfect venue! The room where the dinner was held had a saloon theme, so my mom, Grandma and Aunt Dianne put together these table arrangements. Aunt Julie and I attempted to help, but were kicked off of floral arraigning duty since my Grandma “Is in the garden club and is always in the paper for it” (thanks Mom) We had quite the crowd: it was over 90 people, which included the wedding party and all of Peter and Niki’s extended family. My mom put together a great slide show for them. She’s now an expert at iMovie and I think she’ll be making videos for every occasion she can!
As all Notos know, no wedding weekend is complete without a second line (confused? Check this out.) . Aunt Julie made sure all the Louisiana folk were decked out in their New Orleans Saints best, and we all danced around to “When the Saints Go Marching In”.
Us ladies spent weeks planning out our appropriate honky tonk outfits, but no one was as cute as our little Madeline. Notice the boots? Thanks, Granny! She was even wearing custom made bloomers with her name on the booty. Running a close second was my Paw Paw and Jackie. They were SO proud of the cowboy hats they picked up at Kmart. Coming in 3rd were my mom's parents who were showing off their boots...Granny and Papa K were our "on call" babysitters for the weekend and were SUCH a big help! When Granny was done feeding Madeline her baby food, Aunt Julie thought Papa K needed some too...Here are some other fun snaps:Pretty sure this is my new favorite picture of all 4 siblings...
