Andrew Plays T-Ball!

Andrew has a bat and tee in the backyard that he seems to enjoy, so we figured we'd give t-ball a shot.  We decided to start small with the I-9 league, which is very laid back and has lots of parents helping out.  At his first game he was very excited about his own glove.

Once the actual game began, he was less than thrilled.  When he was in the field, he thought it was a race to get the ball that had been hit, and got upset when other kids on his team got it.  When it was his turn to hit the ball (which he likes doing), he was upset that he didn't get to catch his own ball.

We needed a little mommy intervention to get through the first game.

After the first game, the next two were rained out and we had to miss week #4, so what should have been game #5 was game #2 for Andrew.  He did better than we thought (as in no crying).  We also encouraged him to "high five" his teammates that caught the ball.

Regardless, this is pretty much how he feels about the whole thing!

At least he looks cute. :)  His favorite part by far is hitting the ball.

He is very enthusiastic when it comes to giving the other team high fives and running through the tunnel!

Preston is 6 Months Old!

Six months old...It's hard to believe in the same amount of time we'll be celebrating his first birthday!

  • Height: 27.75" (91%) Weight: 22 lbs 5 oz (99%) Head: 17.13" (56%)
  • He's wearing size 4 diapers and 12/18 months clothes...with a heavy lean towards 18.
  • We're still doing around 5 feedings a day and fighting the bottle.
  • A big development this month was that Preston got his two bottom teeth!  Unfortunately, the two weeks it took for the teeth to come in set him back majorly in the "sleeping through the night" department.  For every one night of sleeping through the night, he'll have 2-3 rough nights (as in waking multiple times).  We're having quite the challenge with this, but hoping it changes soon.  We put him to bed around 7:30 pm.  What time he wakes in the morning depends on the kind of night he has, but it's usually around 6:30 am.
  • We transitioned him from the miracle blanket to a sleep sack.
  • He loves to blow bubbles and babble.
  • His napping in the crib has gotten so much better.  If we're home he'll nap for an hour around 9 am.  The afternoons are less predictable.  If we're home he'll nap anywhere from 45 min to 1.5 hrs.  If he doesn't take a good afternoon nap he'll take a short nap in the Mamaroo around 5 pm.
  • He rolled over....once.  I was outside pulling weeds and my mom, Jon and the kids saw him do it.  And he hasn't rolled over since.  Andrew did the same thing:  He rolled over the first time Jon watched him on his own while I was away.  No need to ask me if I'm bitter. Stinkers. :)
  • The good news is that he's a master at sitting up!  It took him about a week to learn but he'll happily sit and play with toys for over an hour.
  • He's generally a very happy baby and will let anyone hold him.
  • The kid grabs at everything.  Madeline and Andrew think it's hilarious.
  • Speaking of M and A, Preston thinks his siblings are the funniest people in the world.  They just have to walk by him and he smiles/laughs.
  • Surprisingly, he hasn't taken well to baby food.  We try to feed him  few times a day, but the only thing he really likes is bananas and sweet potatoes, and he'll only take a few bites.  He eyes our food like crazy though.  I think he just wants a hamburger.
  • His favorite toys are the jumparoo and teething toys.  He also loves the little stuffed puppies that we had leftover from Andrew's birthday party.

Every year I try to take the kids pictures in the bluebonnets.  I love the backdrop, and typically they turn out cute even when the offspring decide not to cooperate.  This year, we only had one day where we would be near a bluebonnet field during the 2-3 week window that they would be in bloom.  And of course it started raining as soon as we pulled up to the field.  So I did what any other self-respecting Texas mother would do and attempted to take them anyway.

The kids actually didn't mind the rain, but I was concerned about my good camera getting wet.  So here are this year's quickest bluebonnet pics in the history of the world.

Lest you not be entertained (kidding), let's discuss the mood of each child:

Mr. Goofy pants:  I said, "Smile, Andrew!" and he started crying.  He fakes a good smile.

Princess wanted to pick the bluebonnets and would not smile because "the flowers are itchy."

Stone cold Preston:  The kid will smile and laugh all day for a video camera or iPhone.  The second he sees my big black camera the smile stop and I get a death glare.

Thank you, dear children, for keeping me on my toes.

Just for fun, here are bluebonnet pics from previous year.  These little stinkers sure do grow up fast.  My favorite is 2013.  Andrew was 15 months old at the time and I could kiss those cheeks for days.  For some reason I didn't post 2010 pics on the blog.  Madeline was 5 months old and that feels like 4598947 years ago.

Insta - April

Lots of baby cheeks and outdoor time....

So many things I love about this picture....Elsa and Superman swinging in the backyard.  I'd also like to note that it was 78 degrees outside and Madeline was "cold".

Audrey and Preston on their weekly date during swimming lessons

Teething sucks...

...until they come in!

On this afternoon the kids were arguing so I gave them a hose and told them to play.  Best idea ever.

Jon's birthday was April 8th.  I think Preston was more excited about it than he was.

Andrew was excited because "Dad got a yo-yo!"

Andrew put on these sunglasses and said, "I look like Uncle Ben!"  Andrew's glasses are NOT Ray-Bans like Uncle Ben's.  :)

On nice afternoons the kids like to eat lunch in the clubhouse.  Fergie always waits for "extras" to fall out of it.

Those cheeks and them.

If ever there was a phrase made for me this would be it.  I need it on a t-shirt.

I saw this somewhere and it's the TRUTH.

Jon and I took all three kids to see Frozen on Ice.  The logistics of the day were madness but the actual show was cute.

Preston behaved better than expected and was staring at the popcorn like a hawk.

Jon and I took the rare opportunity to go out on a date night by ourselves.  We ate on the patio at Grotto.

Some friends of ours came over one Saturday and we got to meet baby Eli!  He's three weeks older than Preston, but P has him beat by 8 pounds!  The boys had fun on their little playdate.

The dreaded yard work weekend.  The kids are getting old enough where we can outsource jobs, like dumping mulch.

Madeline had a field trip to the zoo 4 days after Andrew went.  Things are always better when it's with your best friend!

With all the crazy April weather we had, we took advantage of any sunny days to play outside with our friends!

I took this at 6:15 am one morning.  All three kids wide awake and on my pillow.  No alarms needed around here!
