Preston's 1st Birthday Professional Photos

Call me partial, but I think this guy is pretty handsome.  He was in the best mood for the photographer.  It never ceases to amaze me how fast they grow in a year.

We did not plan on family photos, because I was just concerned with getting good ones of Preston.  Lisa, our photographer, insisted we take a few and I'm glad we did.

...but let's be honest.  These are how most family photos turn out these days!

These pictures of the kids were also not planned, but I loved how they turned out.  It was a good lesson that carefully coordinated outfits aren't a necessity to get great pictures.

Preston was in heaven!

Preston is 12 months old!

(super late on this one, so all comments are relevant to 3.5 weeks ago...)
  • Height: 31" (88%) Weight: 26 lbs 7 oz (98%) Head: 17.91" (32%)
  • He wears size 5 diapers, 5W shoe, 18-24 month/2T tops and 18-24 month/2T bottoms.  We have to roll the bottom of his pants, but he needs the size for the waist.
  • The only bottle he takes is a 4 oz one at night.  We offer him milk with meals, but so far he's not a fan.
  • He loves to eat fruit, cheese, yogurt and pasta.
  • At night, Preston has been SO tired that we struggle to keep him awake until 7:30 pm.  The earlier we put him down, the earlier he gets up.  We've learned that the hard way...put him to bed before 7 pm, and he'll wake up at 5:30.  Naps are the same as last month because of the big kids school schedule.
  • He's really into waving lately.  He'll wave when we're saying "hi" or "bye". He also likes to wave to whoever is around before he takes a nap or goes to bed.  I'll say, "Let's go night night" and he'll start waving.
  • No walking yet, but he's taking a few steps on his own.  He's become a super speedy cruiser, and will try and walk fast if you hold his hand.
  • When he gets attention from others he likes to act shy.  He'll smile and hide his face.
  • Preston loves loud noises.  When I vacuum he'll follow me around.
  • He loves when my friends hold him, and will thrown himself toward them.
  • Squealing.  He loves the sound of his own voice.
  • His favorite things to play with are anything that makes noise and anything that's outside.  He's also started to flip through books.

Insta-October

We'll start off the October recap with a rare sight on the blog these days.  Fergie loves to be outside as much as the kids do.

Preston has gotten brave by venturing off the patio and will now crawl all over the yard.

He loves climbing up the big slide.

One afternoon they wanted to "relax and get some sun."

P had the same idea.

The belly on this kid...

Preston is getting brave with his steps and occasionally thinks he needs applause.

Andrew's school hosted a Fall Festival.  The weather was perfect and the kids had a blast.
Preston and Audrey:  The life of third children, being pulled from one activity to the next.

Andrew drew himself on a pumpkin.  I just love his drawings of people.

Andrew has been on a huge Charlie Brown kick.  He dressed up as CB for Audrey's Halloween themed birthday party.

Madeline had an "Open House" night at her school.  We loved seeing everything she works on during the day.  I'm amazed by the amount of material they cover.  Sister LOVES to learn and was excited to share her work with us.

Funny story: Our friends were over one day after school, and after they left I found this picture.  I assumed our friend Case drew it and was cracking up that the bottom said, "Ms. Kleckley Mad."  I was soon corrected and was told that Madeline actually drew it.  When I asked Madeline why she wrote "Ms. Kleckley Mad", she said that she was going to write her name after Kleckley and ran out of space.

My kiddos painted so many small pumpkins during the month of October.  Our front porch looked like a rainbow pumpkin farm.

Our October Bunco theme was Halloween/Witches.  As always, a good time was had by all.

Madeline, Sarina, Lucy and Samantha participated in the Dawson Diamonds dance camp.  The girls had a great time learning dances from the big girls.

During Red Ribbon week Madeline got to dress up in a different theme each day.  Monday was dress like a Cowboy/Cowgirl.

On Friday the school celebrated "A Great Day of Reading."  The kindergarten theme was Dr. Seuss.  Madeline dress like a "Who" from The Grinch.

I worked with some other Kindergarten moms to decorate the Kindergarten hallway in a Dr. Seuss theme.  Lots of work, but lots of fun!

Madeline loves when we go eat with her at school.

The best part of Madeline participating in the Diamonds' dance camp as that they got to dance on the field at a Dawson football game.  It was also our first time to take the kids to Friday night lights, and they loved it!

Madeline was on the first row, second from the right in a white shirt.  They had a choreographed dance to "Monster Mash."
